Angel: After the Fall begins a few months after the final episode of Angel (May 2004), and we get to see what happens to Angel and friends after the series ended. These stories go through 2005.

I created this page because I wanted a simple reference that showed all the Buffy and Angel Episodes, along with all the comics, and maybe some of the books – and their nominal viewing/reading order.

	Angel: After the Fall v. 1	Timeframe: Summer 2004. A few months after the final episode of Angel. TPB: Angel: Season 6 v1 (IDW, 2015) Origin: Angel: After the Fall, IDW series, parts 1-5 (2007-2008) Notes: After speaking at length with the experts (I asked the author, Brian Lynch, on Twitter!) it seemed like the best route to read this as written and released. So even though they don’t follow this order chronologically, it seemed like it was best to ignore that chronology. But keep in mind, if you read these in Angel Season 6, they publish them chronologically.
	Angel: After the Fall: First Night (v. 2)	Timeframe: May 2004. The first night after the final episode of Angel. TPB: Angel: Season 6 v1 (IDW, 2015) Origin: Angel: After the Fall, IDW series, parts 6-8 (2007-2008) Notes: As I noted above, these were published and released not in chronological order. So, this takes place immediately after the final episode of Angel, and before volume 1 of After the Fall. Still, it makes sense to read them in publication order. It was fun to see a glimpse of how they ended up where they are now – or at least the “now” in After the Fall. (If you read these in Angel Season 6, they are published chronologically.) Now, back to our regularly scheduled program! What is happening to our friends?!?
	Angel: After the Fall v. 3	Timeframe: Summer 2004. A few months after the final episode of Angel. TPB: Angel: Season 6 v1 (IDW, 2015) Origin: Angel: After the Fall, IDW series, parts 9-12 (2008) Notes: I felt like the story really picked up here – I really got into it.
	Spike: After the Fall	Timeframe: After First Night; before Angel: After the Fall. TPB: Angel: Season 6 v1 (IDW, 2015) Origin: Spike: After the Fall, IDW 4-part mini (2008) Notes: Why read this now? We were in the middle of a story in Angel: After the Fall v3! Good question, and good point! I think this is the right time to read this, as this is when it was published, and it fills in the story behind where we find Spike in v. 1, making that reveal that much better.
	Angel: After the Fall, v. 4	Timeframe: Conclusion of the After the Fall storyline. Summer 2004. TPB: Angel: Season 6 v2 (IDW, 2016) Origin: Angel: After the Fall, IDW series, parts 13-17 (2008-2009) Notes: Quite an ending!
	Drusilla: Haunted	Timeframe: May 2004 TPB: Angel: Season 6 v2 (IDW)  Origin: Angel #24-25 IDW (2009)  Notes: Dru has visions of the Hell we see in After the Fall. It’s a nice side story to read after finishing After the Fall, so skip to this before reading Aftermath.
	Angel: After the Fall: Aftermath (v. 5)	Timeframe: Immediately after After the Fall. Obvs. (Summer 2004.) TPB: Angel: Season 6 v2 (IDW, 2016) Origin: Angel, IDW series #18-22 (2009) Notes: Not what I expected, but interesting nonetheless. I especially loved the delving into bigger issues. Good and evil. Morality. The big stuff.
	After the Fall: Epilogue; Become What You Are	Timeframe: Summer 2004 TPB: Angel: Season 6 v2 (IDW)  Origin: Angel, IDW series #23 (2009)  Notes: Gunn! We find out what happens to Gunn during the Aftermath. There’s a panel at the very beginning of Aftermath, where Connor asks Angel where Gunn, Spike, and Lorne are. We see Gunn and Illyria in a car on the highway and Angel says “Gunn is…getting better. But he needs to find himself.” This is the beginning of that story. And it’s continued in Only Human, so that’s up next.
	Angel: Only Human	Timeframe: Summer 2004 TPB: Angel Omnibus v2 (IDW, 2011)  Origin: Only Human IDW 5-part mini (2009)  Notes: Gunn and Illyria on a road trip! There’s a great juxtaposition of their histories – so different, but bringing them together. These events take place parallel to Aftermath.
	Boys and Their Toys	Timeframe: Summer 2004. TPB: Angel: Season 6 v2 (IDW)  Origin: Angel, IDW series #26-27 (2009) Notes: This is the best Brian Lynch story yet! It’s hilarious and the characterization is perfect. Set at a comic / Sci-Fi convention with callbacks to one of my favorite Buffy episodes. And that only touches the tip of the iceberg why this story is so wonderful. Angel and Spike at their finest.
	Last Angel in Hell	Timeframe: n/a TPB: Angel: Season 6 v2 (IDW)  Origin: Last Angel in Hell IDW one-shot (2009) Notes: Comic book adaptation of the movie previewed in Boys and Their Toys. (In the timeline, the movie was released in December – but it’s fun to read it immediately after Boys and Their Toys.)
	The Curse	Timeframe: 2004. TPB: Angel Omnibus v1 (IDW, 2008)  Origin: The Curse IDW 5-part mini (2005) Notes: Given that this was published in 2005, there’s some crazy foreshadowing as Angel remembers events that took place in Not Fade Away, and notes “That was right before everything went to hell.” Because After the Fall takes place in a Hell dimension, and didn’t start publication until 2007. So this takes place after the conclusion of the After the Fall storyline. Since it seems like we went straight to Aftermath, so it must take place after that. And it flows better if it takes place after Boys and Their Toys. (At first, I thought this took place during Season 5, because he says, “Now I met someone else. Nina.” But I think he’s remembering her being his most recent love. Because his next statement is, “This time I want to do it right. If not with her, then with someone.”)
	Old Friends	Timeframe: 2004. After The Curse. TPB: Angel Omnibus v1 (IDW, 2008)  Origin: Old Friends IDW 5-part mini (2005-2006) Notes: Angel returns to Los Angeles after spending some time alone. This was written before After the Fall, so the timing is odd. But I think it flows ok.
	My Only Friend	Timeframe: 2004. After Old Friends. Angel is in LA to stay. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel: Yearbook Dark Horse anthology (2011) Notes: Short and sweet. Angel is home.
	Lorne: Music of the Spheres	Timeframe: 2004. After My Only Friend. Everyone is back at the Hyperion. TPB: Angel: The John Byrne Collection (IDW, 2011) Origin: Music of the Spheres IDW one-shot (2010) Notes: I always like stories that play with reality. But I think it could have been so much more.
	This One Time	Timeframe: 2005. The gang is all together. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Notes: I loved this story! Interesting, especially after Music of the Spheres. But it just reminds me what a fantastic writer Brian Lynch is.
	Immortality for Dummies	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel, IDW series #28–32 (2009) Notes: Immortality for Dummies includes 5 chapters of the Angel comic series. They can be a bit confusing because on the Buffy Chronology page, they are titled with their chapter titles: The Crown Prince Syndrome, Immortality for Dummies, The Trouble with Felicia, The Big Dustup, and Roman a Clef. And the title of the first chapter is the same as the title of the next collection.
	Eddie Hope: Eddie and the Crew (parts 1-5, pages 1-20)	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel, IDW series #28-32 (backup stories) (2009-2010) Notes: These were backup stories in the Angel series. All are published in the The End. A total of 12 parts, the first 5, this first part ends with the scene with Gwen. Spike: The Devil You Know is right after.
	Spike: The Devil You know	Timeframe: 2005. Not long after the first parts of Eddie and the Crew. TPB: Spike: The Devil You Know TPB (IDW, 2010) Origin: Spike: The Devil You Know #1-4 IDW mini (2010) Notes: Eddie and Spike team up. Quite an enjoyable Spike story.
	Eddie Hope: Eddie and the Crew (parts 7-12, pages 21-48)	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel, IDW series #33-39 (backup stories) (2010) Notes: The last 7 parts of this story take place a few weeks after Spike: The Devil You Know. These were backup stories in the Angel series. All are published in the The End. This second part starts with the scene with Gunn. (Should this be before or after Crown Prince?)
	The Crown Prince Syndrome	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel, IDW series #33-38 (backup stories) (2010) Notes: Includes the following chapters from the Angel series: Letters Home: A Jamesian Interlude, Bedroom Follies, Prophet for Profit parts 1-3, Cats in the Cradle. The final pages lead into The Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart.
	Angel: Fight for the Remote	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel, IDW series #33-38 (backup stories) (2010) Notes: Ha! Funny short story. The timeline is a bit muddy, but I think it takes place sometime during The Crown Prince Syndrome. At the end of that story, Spike is leaving, and Illyria takes off after him; they meet up again in Illyria: Haunted, so this can’t take place in between them.
	Illyria: Haunted	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Illyria: Haunted (IDW, 2011) Origin: Illyria: Haunted #1-4, IDW mini (2010-2011) Notes: This may take place during The Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart. But it’s a good read prior to that. Spike ends up leaving, and he’s nowhere to be seen in the next chapter. Spike notes that he hasn’t seen Illyria since Fight for the Remote. I always enjoy the time getting into Illyria’s head.
	The Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart	Timeframe: 2005. TPB: Angel: The End (IDW, 2011) Origin: Angel, IDW series #39-44 (backup stories) (2010) Notes: Concludes the Angel storylines that start with the final episode of the show.
